It's Friday, Friday...

Truly the Cutest

I am loving the new Fall inspired designs of Gracie Mae, by my super talented friend, Brooke. (Thank you to Mary of sister | brother for letting me know the new line is up!) School Daze

Today is the first day of school here in Telluride. Guess that means I am done with science camps & am back into science classes. Wow - where did the summer go? In honor of the first day of school, here are some pencils I wish I had when I was a student. Sigh - I miss new school supplies.

Free to Be...

As a child of the 1970's (and with hippie parents) we were big fans of Free to Be you and Me.  The songs take me back and I love the blatant "girls can do anything" message.  So, have you seen the new Target commercial with the Free to Be song?  It's cute, but I still don't think any commercial can do the original Free to Be any justice.

Babycakes...

So, with a little help from Justin, I tackled a personalized baby present I have been thinking about for months now. My friend, Scientist Susan & her husband Murray recently welcomed to the world their beautiful daughter, Ruby. You can probably tell by my calling her "scientist" that Susan is, well, a scientist. To be more specific, she is a chemist. And, to honor Mama Susan - I decided to get crafty with the Periodic Table in creating a customized onesie for Ruby. I don't think this all that creative, but the parents seem to love them, they were fun to make, and hopefully Ruby digs wearing these one day soon.

We printed out the design on our home printer using iron on paper.

Of course we have to add a little bit of "us" for booty baby! Congratulations Susan & Murray!

Run for the Roses

It is that time of year - time for the Kentucky Derby. I love the Derby - the hats, the Mint Juleps, the horse names ("Blind Luck," "Quiet Temper," "Mission Impazible")...the whole "southerness" of it all just gets me so excited. I love the jockeys in their colorful jerseys - stripes, polka dots, you name it. I love the build up to "The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports." Yep, two minutes. And then it is over. It is the type of sport that just screams for a party. Will you be watching?

Wonder Woman

I have a mild obsession with Wonder Woman. It all stems from my 5th birthday party. I worshiped Lynda Carter & her sassy golden Bracelets of the Aegis. Must be why I am totally digging this poster from Michael Myers today - sort of vintage vibe thing happening here.

The Dollhouse

I loved my dollhouse.  My dad built it for me (maybe I can find a picture when I am at home this weekend) complete with locks/keys for each door.  It was a Victorian house painted the same color as our actual house (grey with white trim).  Sadly, it was destroyed in a tornado that pretty much took 1/2 of our actual house and 2 dollhouses (long story that can only be told over many glasses of wine).  I remember my dad digging through the pieces of our house, looking for any reminders of the dollhouse that took him 3 years to build for me. 

So - someday I will have another dollhouse.  Here are some lovely options.

Help: Baby Shower Invitations

Alright - a little help here please? I am planning a very low-key baby shower for a girlfriend & am in need of some invitation help. The mommy-to-be mentioned that we should just send out an "evite" for the shower...my co-organizer & I said absolutely not! So, the idea is for something simple, inexpensive, and cute. I think we are open to any ideas - craft can count! Would love the input.
