Contemplation....

I need a bed for our second bedroom that can accommodate an occasional guest, but also looks good not made up as a bed. This room is used 100% of the time as an office, but it needs to be able to work as more.

The contenders are as follows
1) Day Bed from West Elm. I went and saw it in person, I like it. I like the white more than the dark wood...I think

2) I also like either of these from Ballard, as they are nice looking and conceal a trundle. Do they look too formal or something though? Would you just get it in Linen and call it a day?

This also means I need to buy a twin mattress and sheets. I love new sheets... Need some help please. XO

Photo of room please?

Right now I am leaning towards the West Elm version - in white.

Can you fit a sofa bed type in the room - so if a couple wants to visit. Or is that inviting trouble?

I will try to do a little research in the meantime.

Yes! Love you have another "room project" happening.

Here is the issue: KP hates sofa beds. I can't get him off this idea. Also if there is more than one person we do have an aero bed, but that just isn't sexy. Last issue is that if we ever get going on that 4th roomie, we would need to accomodate a crib and all that and I don't want to buy something that couldn't be worked in. Does that make sense at all?
Will post photos...as right now we are in clean out mode :)

Yes. All makes sense. Ok - wheels turning. Let's see if I can find time to come up with something jazzy for you (cause I know jazzy is of utmost importance to you both).

I love the WE one as well and remember coveting the dark wood one they had. I will def. keep an eye out for some other ideas too....
I agree with KP mostly because I have slept on bad fold out couch beds forever (you know the couch I am talking about).
What about a trundle bed (like the one that my sister has?) Then she has lots of big pillows on it, but it is not a sofa bed.

ps. just read that these hide a trundle. Very handy for guests!!

Butting in to express my dismay at the lack of sofabed love. I was hoping for suggestions for a full or queen sofa bed for our office/guest room from you. I'm pulling for #1 or #3.

I am not anti- sofa bed. I think they are great and there are so many cute ones that are sleek and actually comfy.

My sofa bed FEAR is because of a horrible couch that followed me for my entire 20's. Cathy knows the one because we had it in our house in SF. It was ugly and uncomfortable but had no $ to get a new couch. Then my crazy parents felt the need to come get the bad couch when I moved in with Scott. Now I am forced to sleep on the bad fold out bed when everyone is home for the holidays. BOO. hee hee. I was obviously traumatized by the couch. :)

Ciggity:

The sofa linked below is a GREAT sofa. I slept on this when I was up at my friend Matt's Mom's house last month. The sofa is great looking & then it folds out to a wonderfully sized bed - could fit two. She put a feather bed on top for extra comfort, but I don't think it would be needed. This is what I would get vs. a daybed for sure.

Of course you did. Great minds think alike. I think it is a pretty cool idea - how the sofa clicks the back down into a bed. Kind of mod looking. I thought it worked great for what it was. I slept like a baby on it, but then again, maybe it was because I was so relaxed in general up in Steamboat with the amazing Wilson family.
