When do you put up your holiday decorations? The tradition in my family was on my dad's birthday (Dec. 8th) but I am thinking I will aim for sometime this week.
[photo found on marie claire maison - thank you to Claire for introducing me to this site!]
We usually don't put up decorations as we typically head out of town. I think last year I planted some paperwhites as my "holiday decoration." Lame.
This year we are staying in Telluride (woo hoo), so I plan to decorate in the next couple of weeks I guess. Any tips? Last time we decorated a tree I had bought all things RED for the tree since we really didn't have any decorations. Justin thought the tree was "hooker-ish." I would LOVE any suggestions on fun holiday decorating projects.
Thanks!
And - I expect photos of your holiday decorations - obviously.
Love that he thought the tree was hookerish. Hee hee. We did a tree one year (I will post pics) and it was amazing. Borrowed a vintage silver tree from our friend Melinda because they wanted a real tree. It was funny and wonderful at the same time. Now I just do lights and ornaments in big glass vases instead of a tree (since we are in NM for actual Xmas). I have all green an silver stuff this year. We will see what happens. I have to decorate when Scott is at work since he "hates Christmas" (I blame this on the fact that he works retail). Yes pictures.
Maybe add cranberry or popcorn stings to the tree to make it more wholesome? ;)
I like the idea of a "wholesome" tree - I thought of things I would like to make if I had all the time in the world. What about fabric Yo-Yo's in assorted xmas colors - or maybe just all white to look like snow drops?
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=30830635 these are kinda fun and funky too: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=32843732 This etsy seller is clearly a yo yo addict.
They could just perch on the edge of branch or you could pin them on with safety pins.
Cute! Of course, I was imagining wooden type yo yos when reading your comment - but this is like a quilting yo yo - inventive! I must figure out my decorating scheme this year. I need more than 5 minutes at home first.
